Happy Wednesday, everybody, and welcome to another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I do every week, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a quick segment to talk about the Oilers while also offering my takes on anything else that’s going on in the world.
To kick off this week’s segment, we got started with a look at Connor McDavid winning the Hart Trophy and becoming only the second player in NHL history to win the award with a unanimous vote. After the season he had, it was obvious that McDavid would win the award as the league’s MVP but to have him collect every single vote was certainly a pleasant surprise. From there, we jumped over to the Ryan Nugent-Hopkins extension that was announced yesterday, and I explained why this is a great deal for both the team and the player. While the term is certainly longer than many of us expected, the AAV on this deal means that the Oilers should be able to get fair value out of him for the foreseeable future. Lastly, we wrapped up this week’s segment with me offering my summer wishlist for the Oilers and what I believe are the biggest items they need to check off ahead of next season.
