Connor McDavid had an excellent start to the 2022-23 season.
The Vancouver Canucks got off to a 3-0 early in the second period but the Oilers battled back and picked up a 4-3 win, led by a hat-trick from McDavid. The captain’s second goal of the game gave the Oilers the lead and also gave McDavid 700 points in his NHL career…
McDavid scored his 700th point in the 488th game of his career, making him the sixth fastest player ever to reach the feat in league history. Wayne Gretzky was the fastest at 317 games, Mario Lemieux did so in 363 games, Peter Stastny in 457 games, Mike Bossy in 469 games, and Jarri Kurri in 483 games. Sidney Crosby had been in sixth previously, having scored 700 career points in 497 games.
