The Edmonton Oilers have announced the jersey numbers for their newest additions ahead of Saturday night’s matchup in Toronto, with both Tristan Jarry and Spencer Stastney set to make their Oilers debuts against the Maple Leafs. Our new friends have landed, and now we’ve only got hours to wait until seeing them in Edmonton colours for the first time.

if tristan jarry wears no. 35 in edmonton, as he has during his tenure in pittsburgh, he would be the 10th goaltender to do so for the oilers: jim corsi - 1980 andy moog - 1981-87 mikhail shtalenkov - 1998-99 tommy salo - 1999-04 dwayne roloson - 2006-09 nikolai khabibulin -

According to Oilers TV’s Tony Brar, Tristan Jarry will wear No. 35 in Edmonton, sticking with the same number he wore throughout his 10 years with the Pittsburgh Penguins. It’s a familiar look for the veteran goaltender, and one that Oilers fans have seen plenty of over the years as well. With his new (old) number locked in, Jarry becomes the 16th player in franchise history to wear No. 35 and the eighth goalie in a row to take the number. Most recently, the number was worn by Olivier Rodrigue during his cup of coffee in the 2024–25 season, making this the first time the Oilers’ starter has worn a tradition number in a while. Remember Mikko wearing No. 19? Weird.
On the back end, Spencer Stastney will wear No. 24 alongside Ty Emberson on the Oilers’ third pairing, keeping the same number he wore in Nashville. With that choice, Stastney becomes the 15th Oilers player to don No. 24, which was most recently worn by Travis Dermott before he was waived last season. So, if you’re looking to request that ol’ Dermott jersey then I’ve got a new option for you. For a defenceman stepping into a new organization on short notice, all eyes will be on Stastney, as he looks to fill the hole left by Brett Kulak’s departure in the Jarry trade. Maybe keeping his old number from the Preds can help him feel more comfortable? Dare to dream.
With both players being in the lineup tonight as the Oilers kick off a five-game road trip, we’re going to get a first glimpse at our new friends looking handsome in their new jerseys. With no practice under their belts and the spotlight firmly on Edmonton following Friday’s run of trades, Jarry and Stastney will be thrown directly into the fire at Scotiabank Arena, and I cannot wait to see how they respond to the challenge. New numbers, new jerseys, and a whole lot of eyes watching to see how this new-look Oilers lineup comes together. Only a few more hours to go.
