Oilers release seven players from tryout contracts ahead of NHL training camp

The Edmonton Oilers have announced that they’ve released defenseman Dru Krebs from his professional tryout contract, as well as released center Andrew O’Neill, defensemen Jaxen Adam, Hyde Davidson, Parker Von Richter, and Carson Woodall, and goaltender Josh Banini from their amateur tryout contracts.
Krebs is a 22-year-old originally drafted in the sixth round by the Washington Capitals. He had two goals and 10 assists for 12 points in 58 games with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in the ECHL in 2024-25. He also played two games in the AHL with the Ontario Reign, going pointless in both.
O’Neill is an 18-year-old who went undrafted in 2025. He had one goal and eight assists for nine points in 29 games with the United States National Development Team last season, as well as five goals and 10 assists for 15 points in 59 games with the US National U18 Team. He’s set to play for the Edmonton Oil Kings this season.
Adam is an 18-year-old who went undrafted in 2025. He had three goals and six assists for nine points in 58 games with the Tri-City Americans last season, as well as one assist in five games in the playoffs. He’ll play for the Americans again this season.
Hyde is a 19-year-old who went undrafted in 2024 and 2025. He had one goal and 11 assists for 12 points in 40 games with the Seattle Thunderbirds last season, as well as going pointless in six playoff games.
Von Richter is a 19-year-old who went undrafted in 2024 and 2025. He had eight goals and 22 assists for 30 points in 62 games with the Brampton Steelheads last season, as well as one assist in six playoff games. He also had a goal in Sunday’s 5-4 loss to the Calgary Flames during Rookie Camp.
Woodall is a 19-year-old who went undrafted in 2024 and 2025. He had three goals and 35 assists for 38 points in 66 games with the Windsor Spitfires last season, as well as two goals and two assists for four points in five playoff games.
Banini is a 19-year-old who went undrafted in 2024 and 2025. He had a 3-17-1 record and an .899 save percentage in 26 games with the Moose Jaw Warriors last season.
