The Edmonton Oilers have selected defenseman Andrew Robinson in the fifth round, 133rd overall in the 2026 NHL Draft.
The 6-foot, 190-pound defenceman just finished his first season of hockey in the Ontario Hockey League with the Windsor Spitfires, scoring nine goals and 24 points in 63 games with a plus-36 rating. He spent the 2024-25 season with the OJHL’s Georgetown Raiders, scoring three goals and 34 points in 53 games.
Where the left-shot blueliner excels is in his own zone, Daily Faceoff’s Steven Ellis said.
“Robinson’s game is all about getting in the way,” he told Oilersnation. “He’s not overly physical or skilled, but he’s defensively responsible. Not big, won’t produce much.”
A native of Oakville, Ont., he was the 205th-ranked North American skater by NHL Central Scouting.
Robinson, meanwhile, told the Windsor Star he wasn’t worried about his ranking.
“I’ve talked to the majority of the league teams,” he said. “Rankings are something I never looked at. Even the OHL rankings growing up, I was told not to look because they don’t know the player. With the NHL, it just takes one team.”
Earlier in the day, the Oilers traded down in the second round, from 54th overall to 58th overall, picking up this 133rd overall pick they used to select Robinson. With the second-round pick, they drafted Latvian centre Rudolfs Berzkalns. In the third round, they selected Swedish winger Malcom Gästrin.
The Oilers have remaining selections in the sixth round, 180th overall, and the seventh round, 212th overall.
