<p>Carrick, 30, spent last season in the AHL playing for the Coachella Valley Firebirds, the affiliate of the Seattle Kraken, where he scored nine goals and 34 points in 70 games. As the Firebirds went on a run to the Calder Cup Finals, Carrick continued to produce, scoring a goal and seven points in 18 games.</p>
<p>Drafted by the Washington Capitals in the fifth round of the 2012 draft, Carrick is no stranger to the NHL game. He&#8217;s appeared in 242 games between the Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, Dallas Stars and the Boston Bruins, scoring 13 goals and 50 points.</p>
<p>While the offensive game has come for him in the American League, scoring 45 goals and 193 points in 350 games, it hasn&#8217;t quite done so in the NHL with his career-high offensive season coming in 2017-18 with the Leafs, scoring four goals and 12 points in 47 games.</p>
<p>Over the last four years, Carrick has only seen 11 games of NHL action, but the righty could find himself competing for a depth role on the Oilers, who have been busy on July 1st signing other depth blue liners. Other defencemen signed Monday include Noel Hoefenmayer, who spent last year with the AHL Condors, as well as Josh Brown.</p>
