Risky Business is brought to you by NHL odds site Betway!
I don’t care what anybody says: this is a must-win game for the Edmonton Oilers. I know they won’t get knocked out of the playoffs or anything like that if they lose, but it’s hard to imagine them climbing back into contention in a real way if they can’t beat teams like the San Jose Sharks. To put it lightly, San Jose stinks and the only acceptable outcome from a game like this is beating them. I don’t care if it’s a one-goal win or they pummel the puck line — it really doesn’t matter. The Sharks are generally awful and played last night against the LA Kings, and if that’s not a recipe for an Oilers road win, then I don’t know what is. That’s not to say that I think this will be an easy win or anything like that — Gord knows that any team can win on any given night — but you’d be hardpressed to find anyone that thinks this game shouldn’t end up with two points coming our way.
If you’re following along at home, the odds I’m using for my game day betting articles all season come from Betway. Here’s what I’m putting down against the San Jose Sharks.
Player Prop:
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to register 2+ points at +162. My $5 bet would return $13.12.
Easy Money:
Over 60.5 total shots on goal at -125. My $5 bet would return $9.00.
Risky Business:
Leon Draisaitl to register 3+ points at +300. My $5 bet would return $20.00.
Can’t Miss Parlay:
Oilers moneyline and over 6.5 total goals at +105. My $5 bet would return $10.25.

Last Game
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous about the last game when the Oilers were down by a goal going into the third period. Thankfully, Jonathan Quick was awful in the third period and that allowed the Oilers to not only win the game, but also for me to cash in on some key bets.
Here’s what I bet against the Rangers:
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins over 2.5 shots on goal at +105.- Over 61.5 total shots on goal at -125. ✅
Leon Draisaitl to register 2+ points at +140.- Edmonton Oilers moneyline and over 5.5 total goals at +210. ✅
And there you have it, friends. Now you know what I’m betting on and how I did last game. As always, I put one unit down on each bet. Hit me up in the comments section to let me know what you’re looking at against the Sharks.
It’s also worth noting that betting lines move throughout the day, so that may be the reason why what’s listed above doesn’t match what’s on Betway when you put together your own bets.
