You can make that three wins in a row for the Edmonton Oilers after they edged out the defending Stanley Cup Champions by a score of 5-4 in the shootout. Below are the highlights from the game.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS PRESENTED BY BETWAY

With Zach Hyman unavailable because of an illness, Sam Gagner was inserted into the lineup on the fourth line and immediately made his presence felt. The 34-year-old veteran threw the puck on net right off of a faceoff and it made its way through Logan Thompson to give the Oilers an early 1-0 lead.
The Golden Knights tied the game at 1-1 early in the second period. Mark Stone battled with Mattias Ekholm in front of Edmonton’s net and Vegas’ captain was able to deflect a shot past Stuart Skinner.

Not long after, the Oilers jumped back in front with a similar goal. Mattias Ekholm took a shot from the point and Mattias Janmark deflected it past Logan Thompson for his first goal of the season.

That lead lasted under one minute as the Golden Knights tied the game at 2-2 almost immediately after. Michael Amadio picked up the puck right off of a faceoff in Edmonton’s zone and deked out Skinner before roofing a backhand shot.

The Golden Knights had am opportunity a few minutes later to give themselves their first lead of the game but a missed shot on goal came all the way back around and Connor McDavid capitalized on a breakaway to put the Oilers back in front.

Filling into Zach Hyman’s spot as the net-front presence on the top power play unit, Evander Kane buried his 11th goal of the season to put the Oilers up 4-2 before the end of the second period.

The Oilers locked things down for the first half of the third period but the Golden Knights gave themselves life with a few minutes left. Ben Hutton picked up a loose puck just inside Edmonton’s blueline and wired a shot past Stuart Skinner to make the score 4-3.

Vegas tied the score at 4-4 with just over two minutes left to play in regulation time. Zach Whitecloud threw a puck on the net from the point and Keegan Kolesar tipped it in.

Overtime didn’t solve anything, so the two teams went to a shootout to decide the winner. Connor McDavid scored on the first shot, Jonathan Marchessault missed the net, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins buried a goal, and Jack Eichel rung a shot off of the post to seal the win for the Oilers.
