Oilersnation Radio: Should we be worried about these Oilers injuries or nah?

With the pre-season nearing its end with tonight’s finale against the Kraken, there was plenty to talk about on the latest episode of Oilersnation Radio.
Kicking off the podcast, we started with a delicious debate regarding the jobs that may be available for the taking with only a single game left on the pre-season schedule. Even though we all knew that there was only a spot or two available on the roster, we still don’t know for sure which player will snap up that final gig. Changing gears, we looked at the early projections for the 2024-25 salary cap after Gary Bettman revealed this past week that the league is likely going to land around $87-88 million dollars. For a team like the Oilers who have the bulk of their roster already signed, this bump in cap space could actually put them in a really good spot. Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, we looked at some of the injuries the team is battling right now and whether or not we should be concerned about players like Ekholm and McLeod missing the entire tune-up period. With some key pieces out of the lineup, we then walked through the line combos posted ahead of tonight’s contest with the Kraken and tried to figure out how much stock we should be putting into these current trios and defensive pairings. Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another round of Ask the Idiots, Kennedy’s quote game, and Hot and Cold performers.
