Saying goodbye to Pat Maroon

It was the deal that we all knew was coming but that doesn’t make it any easier to see you go. Pat Maroon, we’re going to miss you around here and we wanted to take a moment to say goodbye.
After being brought in on Deadline Day a couple of years ago, Pat Maroon was a beacon of happiness for many Nation Citizens. The guy played the game the way Edmontonians love and to see him moved for such a limited return is certainly upsetting, though it made a world of sense to try and get something in return for an expiring asset. That said, losing a fan favourite is never fun but that’s what happens when the season goes down the toilet like this one did.
In the end, you can’t blame the Oilers for moving on and trying to get something in return for a player that will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1st. Regardless of the return, we’ll always be disappointed when a player we love gets moved to another team and that’s exactly what happened with Pat Maroon. The Big Rig wasn’t here for a long time, but we had a hell of a lot of good times and that’s something that we can always keep in our brain banks. With that said, we wanted to say goodbye to the one they call Big Rig and wish him well as he heads off to New Jersey.
On behalf of Oilersnation, we’ll miss you, Pat. Best of luck in New Jersey, pal. Say hi to Hallsy for us.
