Boy oh boy, what a game.
It was a tough first frame despite Zach Hyman giving the Oilers a 1-0 lead that was quickly lost. Pittsburgh scored two quick ones by the end of one. They got another early in the third, but then it was all Oilers.
That, of course, came after a few tense moments where Connor McDavid crashed into the Oilers’ post. The Oilers captain got tied up with Penguins defenceman Jeff Petry and went back first into the post. He was down for a moment or two and went to the bench with Oilers trainer T.D. Forss. After heading down the tunnel for a brief checkup, McDavid was back..
Nearly instantly, the floodgates opened. Tyson Barrie scored and Evander Kane, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Leon Draisaitl and Ryan McLeod all tickled the twine.
Here’s a look at everything that happened:
the oilers' pk struggles continue as rickard rakell wires one to tie this game up.
sidney crosby wires one home to give the pens a 2-1 lead.
bryan rust banks one in off jack campbell and in. 3-1 pens.
oh no. connor mcdavid is hurt. he crashes hard into the post and is forced out of the game.
tyson barrie with a powerplay goal cuts the pens' lead to 3-2.
evander kane with his second goal of the year, and the oilers have this game tied up at 3.
the edmonton oilers have overcome a 3-1 deficit and now lead in thanks to this ryan nugent-hopkins goal.
ryan mcleod. no doubt. 6-3 oilers.
