Oilers announce 56-player training camp roster absent two 2026 draft picks

Training camp is officially underway for the Edmonton Oilers.

While members of the organization met with the media Wednesday morning, players were put through the medicals and on-ice sessions at both Rogers Place and the Downtown Community Arena.

There’s no lack of players to get through, either, as the Oilers have opened training camp with 56 players invited — all of whom are within the Oilers organization in some element.

The roster has all of the veteran players you’d expect, such as Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Evan Bouchard, Mattias Ekholm, et al., as well as a strong contingent of prospects. It’s headlined by three members of the Oilers’ 2026 draft class: Rudolfs Berzkalns, Andrew Robinson, and Caden Harvey.

Third-round pick Malcom Gastrin didn’t attend rookie camp and won’t be at training camp, as his season is already underway playing for MoDo Hockey U20 in Sweden’s U20 Nationell league, already scoring two goals and three points in four games. Goaltender Ryan Cameron, selected in the seventh round, was assigned to his USHL team, the Sioux Falls Stampede, following rookie camp.
